Hello. I am Jan Demers, a fourth grade teacher from Ozona Elementary. I have been teaching in Pinellas County for 14 years, I was a stay at home mom for 12 years before that. I am a transplant from Massachusetts 17 years ago. I am very excited about the technology we are going to be working with and incorporating it into my classroom. We need to be continually using a multitude of modes, medias and resources to teach today and keep our students actively involved in their learning. 05/29/07
My name is Melissa Livingston. I am a 1st grade teacher at Blanton Elementary. I just completed my 2nd full year teaching and I still enjoy it. Hi My name is Mollie Weamer, and I am the 4th & 5th grade ESE Resource teacher at Sanderlin Elementary. I have been teaching for 5 years, all in special education, and 4 of the 5 at Sanderlin. I moved here in 2002 from Pennysylvania, after graduating from Duquesne University. While I do miss fall, the sunshine here each day is wonderful! Right now I am excited to continue integrating more technology into my classroom. Outside of school one of my interests in dogs. I breed, show, and hunt Jack Russell Terriers and have six between 6 years and 8 weeks at the moment that keep me busy ;0)
Today was a great experience; I am looking forward to the rest of the week. I have worked the last three years with students who have autism. It has been a very exciting and rewarding time working with these students with very unique abilities. In fact, it is the best time of my life...all 57 years of it. I look forward to working with all of you as we go down this road of discovery as we increase our skills to reach our students and fellow teachers.

Hi! My name is Cheryl Alcock. This will be my third year teaching second grade at Southern Oak Elementary. I am a transplanted Hoosier, although I've lived in Pinellas County for almost 21 years now. I have a son at Seminole High and a daughter at Seminole Middle. Two LARGE dogs, four cats, one rabbit, one ferret, and two hamsters fill the rest of our small house. I have a BA in Business Adm and worked in the business field for 20 years before switching over to education after getting my MA in elementary ed. I'm really looking forward to being able to use all this technology in the classroom!! Tuesday 5/29/07

Hey,
My name is Nancy Miller. After many years of teaching fifth grade this is my third year teaching third graders at Ozona, what a change!! I often expect my third graders to do what my fifth graders were able to do, most of the time they can, and I am excited to try out any new technology I learn on these inquiring minds I have in class. I have been teaching for 23 years now. I have two children who are both mortgage brokers and married to a fellow educator. My favorite pastime is creating bears which have stories specialized for individuals. I have written stories for children after accidents, for the birth of new babies and grieving loved ones plus much more. We now have a four legged son, Buddy, an 18 month yellow lab who demands a lot of attention, especially when I am on the computer. Tuesday, 5/29/07
Hi,
My name is Cathie Atcher. Nancy, please say "Hey" to Mike for me. I teach AP Lit & Comp, Hon. Eng. IV, and will be taking on the AVID seniors this year in conjunction with Contemporary Lit I & II. I have two daughters, one of whom just blessed me with a grandson exactly one week ago. I will be returning to Louisville to be with mother and child immediately after Friday's class (my flight is at 5:00, so clear the roads). I also have a beleaguered husband that I bullied into substituting after his retirement from civil service and two cats who rule the roost. I am looking forward to using all this new technology, particularly the document camera and airliner, and intend to use it extensively, particularly with the AVID kids using the Inspiration software. Here's to a great week. Tuesday, 5/29.
My name is Brandie Jessie and I teach 3rd grade STARS at Southern Oak Elementary. I am a product of Pinellas County Schools. I attended Cross Bayou Elementary, Morgan Fitzgerald Middle and Pinellas Park High. I have been teaching 9 years and have loved every minute (well... most minutes.) My husband and I first met in middle school and have been married 7 years. We have two beautiful daughters: Madison is 5 and starting Kindergarten this year and Cassidy is 2. I look forward to a summer full of swimming in the pool, trips to the park and potty-training. :D) I am excited to be working with you all.

I am what Jen calls me a " County Boy" attending Starkey, Osceola Middle and High School. I look forward to corresponding with all of you and hope that we will be able to help each other become better educators in the wide wide world of technology.
Hello all! My name is Jessica Scott, though I prefer to be called Jess. I have just finished my first year of teaching in Pinellas County at Meadowlawn Middle School. I taught 6th and 8th grade science this past year. I was also the girls track coach. Next year, I'm teaching 8th graders only, regular science, honors science and the AVID elective. Previous to Pinellas, I taught in Ohio for Teays Valley schools. That's about 20 miles south of Columbus. I taught 8th grade science for 4 years there. While there, I was the varsity (high school) girls soccer, boys and girls swimming and girls track coach. I have a very supportive, long distance family- my mom and dad are wonderful, my 25 year-old brother is a pain and my soon to be 16 year-old sister is a treat. I am not married but I do have a wonderful 4 month old at home. Her name is Daisy Mae and she is a red-nosed American Pit Bull Terrier. On June 18, I will be heading to Huntsville, Alabama to attend the Space Camp for Educators and on July 22, I will be in Atlanta, Georgia for AVID summer institute. I look forward to using everything I learn this week in all parts of my classroom next year. See you all tomorrow! Jess

Greetings, group members! I'm Holly Atkins, and I teach 7th grade language arts as well as a 7th/8th grade playwriting class at Southside Fundamental Middle School. This is actually my second time as a CTIP participant, although the first time was 7 years ago -- yes, the technology's changed quite a bit since then. I'm a lifelong resident of St. Pete Beach. How long is "lifelong"? Well, we had a pony in a vacant lot next to our house for years -- that is, until the police got tired of her jumping the fence and galloping down Gulf Boulevard!
Hi I'm Julie Otto, I co-teach (with Brandie Jessie) a regular 3rd grade and STARS inclusion class at Southern Oak Elementary. I am starting to really get into digital photography and enjoy scrapbooking both traditonally and digitally. I also really enjoy buying new purses and Brighton jewlery it is my weakness. My poor mother has to accept that she has grand dogs instead of grandchildren. I have two spoiled poodles and just recently lost my black lab.
