Sorry for the delay but as you know I had some major problem with it once I got publishing priviledges. I had more pages but will add at a later date. I did not want to play with it anymore before I sent it to you for the first go round.

Collen- Great Job! I loved the pictures that you used and I am thinking about adding a like to Riverdeep now that I saw yours!!

Hi Nancy, I think you have a great start on your web page. You classroom news page link on the left nav is not working. Also, for your home page you might want to put some more information about your school or classroom. Usually the index page is the introduction page and includes the school name and link back to the school site and also introduceds you as the teacher. Your calendar looks good! Keep up the great work , AnnI like the new index page.. looks great! Ann

Colleen Parks http://it.pinellas.k12.fl.us/Teachers2/parksc/index.html

Collen- wonderful job! Same as Jay, I'm probably borrowing the calendar idea. Jess

Colleen, I like the calendar. However, I may use it, even though I do an updated monthly calendar on my weekly newsletters. I'm also going to add River Deep and Harcourt to my site. Thanks. Cheryl

Colleen, I was impressed with your site. After looking at your links I am attempting to make a calendar page that includes all the months. That page looks great. I also wanted to mention that your Riverdeep link was not working. I know when I access Riverdeep from home the address is different than the site at school. If you need the at home access address let me know. Melissa 11/10/07

Hi Colleen, Nice job with your site. The calendar section is really great.... as many of your fellow CTIPers have noticed! I enjoyed your variety of little animated clip arts, they make the page "come alive"! Ann

Melissa, Great idea to add pages to your webpage offering suggestion for parents, in subject areas, to do at home. I think I will steal that idea.

Hi Melissa, Nice job with your website. Lots of good graphics and easy to navigate around. Your plan to add new pages looks good! How about adding a picture of your classroom to your welcome page? Maybe a little bio about yourself would be good to add as well? Just some suggestions.. keep up the good work! Ann

I have also updated a few pages on my website. I have added a reading page, writing page, and a math page.

Melissa 12/8/07

Cathy, I love how you were able to change the colors on your site. I may look into doing that. Very in formative links. As a parent I would find your site very useful. Melissa 12/26/07

I have also taken some of Ann's advice and included pictures of my classroom. I am working on a student's work page that will be posted in a few weeks. I am not crazy about pictures of myself, so I will leave a bio page out this year. Maybe next year.

Melissa 12/26/07

FYI

I have created a Power Point explaining the steps to creating a Novus web page. I am using it to train several teachers at my school. If anyone is interested just e-mail me. I can send you a copy.

Colleen,

Love the calendar! I did not realize it was an option, and it really makes a nice addition. Your page is very nicely layed out and easy to use. Looks fabulous!

Mollie 11.25.07

Mollie Weamer: My Novus Site

Update 11.25 - Added some new pages, changed the background, but I must say I still far prefer the Wiki, I have already trained the kiddos and the parents to go there, so I will use this one much more sparingly I think. The wiki is so much more interactive and easy, it makes for great communication. The one thing I do like a lot about the Novus is the calendar, so I might get that up and running - Thanks Colleen for a great idea!

My December Planning Page:

Mollie: I like that you put a picture of yourself on your site. It makes it more personable. I think I will do the same (if I can get one that makes me not look so fat) : ) Cheryl

Molly- Great website. I am also going to put a picture of myself on my site for December. I want to incorporate some pictures of the room as well. I am going to stick with our wiki for this year. I think it is much easier to update and use. Maybe I'll get more comfortable with Novus by the end of this year....

Brandie Jessie 9/30/07

HI Mollie, I am going to add the link to your wiki.. http://jbse.pbwiki.com/. I agree that wiki's are more fun. There is a calendar feature in the wiki and it works pretty well.. you might want to check it out. the Novus one is good but alot of work. ann

Mollie,

I love your puppies!  They are so cute.  Your website is awesome, the pictures really make it "kid-friendly".  My only suggestion would be that when you view your home page, the link to the wiki page is sort of hidden.  I actually thought the handprint was the link - and then I saw it further down.  By the way - when I thought the handprint was the link I said to myself, "Wow - this girl is AWESOME!" (You are still awesome anyways!)  Have a great day!  Lolly Smith

Update - 1-28-08 - Added training plan, I did a fluency story with garage band where the students made podcasts of books that targeted skills needed -  I had the students take these stories and share them through Itunes along with rendition of the story in pictures.  We also sent them home as a holiday gift.WeamerCTIP Integration PlanDecember.doc

Julie Otto

Here are the beginnings of my Novus site. It still needs a lot of work. We have been using a wiki and have our partents trained to go there for information. Brandie and I are still in the process of trying to figure out how we want to make this work for our class.

I took a look at all three sites that are up so far and they all look great. I have gotten some great ideas. I too am going to add a calendar feature to my site. I was just wondering Colleen or Melissa, which layout did you use for your calendar page? Thanks for the help. Julie

Thanks Melissa for the help. I've started on my calendar page. Julie :) 11/22/07

I added some more to my site!!!! I had been working on a calendar and have it finished so I added that. I also added a wishlist and FCAT information for parents. In addition I changed the generic chalkboard picture in the top left hand corner to a picture of our school. I am now working on a page that will link to all of the spelling lists and the dates. It will be kind of like the calendar page, except it will have a link to all the lists and the date of each test. That will save me the trouble of updating it every week. So far I just have the layout and some of the pictures. I don't have the links to the lists yet, hopefully soon. I am also still planning on adding more web sites to my web site page. (I'm getting a head start on Dec. assignment, I know it is going to get really busy really soon!) 12/04/07

Hi Julie, Your web site is looking good... how about posting your link to your wiki as well. Glad you figured out the calendar, lots of work but it comes out pretty nice. You are getting a head start for Dec and that is great. Looks like you have covered everything you wanted to add to your web site.

Wikis and web pages are great ways to communicate with both parents and students. do you have your students going to the wiki to go to certain web pages for assignments? Ann

12/19/07

Julie,

Way to go on the website. I am glad you did the spelling page and not me :) It looks great!!!

Brandie

Julie,  I love, love, love the spelling lists page!  The pictures above each link make me want to go and check out the words just because of the pictures!  It is clear you put a lot of thought and work into your page! Lolly Smith

Jay Kinney 11/25/2007

I took the time to view everyone's website listed above and to look at some of the web pages in Mrs. Keller's CTIP group. Each was appropriate to the individual classroom and content. As I was formulating and fine tuning my pages for November's assignment, your webpages gave me inspiration. In December, I will be adding a calendar page...inspired by Colleen Parks. Thanks to all! Here's my offering:

http://it.pinellas.k12.fl.us/Teachers8/KinneyJ/index2.html

Jay -- I like how you've uploaded your newsletter to your Novus site. I'm trying to think of ways that I can cut down on printing by having handouts, etc. on my Novus site. Your newsletter is a great example of this. Holly

Hi Jay, Nice looking web site.. glad you liked Colleens calendar. Something to work towards for Dec. assignment. Some other ideas might be links for your students to go to for activities or assignments? Keep up the great work! Ann

Hope everyone has enjoyed their holidays!

Here is my December 2007 Novus Plan:J Kinney Novus Plan Dec. 2007.pdf

I have added a few pages and links to the existing pages. I have really enjoyed this....and will continue to tweak my website for greater communication with my parents and students. As the year moves forward, I plan to add additional pages that will link my students directly to their individualized curriculum. Right now, that is on the drawing board and will unfold soon.

I have enjoyed looking at everyone's websites...thanks for the inspiration and the sharing of your ideas.

Jay,

Happy and Healthy New Year!!! I like the Calendar and the Newsletters.  Great Job!  See you next week.

December Int. Plan for Atkins.docHi Holly, I can see that you have been very busy using the web for both parent and student communication. Your orginal web page is very creative and colorful. Wish we could have Novus that way. One thing you might want to consider is adding a link to the left nav bar so that folks can navigate back to your home page. Also while you are in the left nav bar you might want to set the other links to open with another page. just some suggestions. Great job! Ann

Hi Cheryl, I think you have a great start on your web site. Love the picture of the students on the home page. Some suggestions you might want to think about are to create a page with your bio, then add the email link to that page. Remove the page that just has your email on it or add something else to it. The email looks lonely all by itself on the page. You need to add a link from your home page to the left nav bar. Parents need to get back to your home page. What a great idea to add all of your newsletters so that parents can download them if they get lost. Keep up the great work.. I know the parents love going to web pages! Ann

Hi Brandi, I think your web site is coming along. Keep adding new pages and it will be a great site. Julie's link is not working and one of your links on the left nav bar need to be fixed. Adding calender is a great idea for Dec as well as adding a page of web site resources for parents to use. Looking forward to seeing your updated web site in Dec. :-) Ann

I have looked at several of the other websites, and would like to thank Ms. Scott for reminding me about a possible link to the AVID Online website for one of my classes. I have not yet begun my own website editing, but will have a few new pages/updated pages available this evening.

Jesse,

Loved seeing your website with the picture of the Meadowlawn courtyard. Your link to the AVID Online site reminded me that I should also include that in my site as I have the first AVID seniors at Northeast. The elementary teacher's websites are so interesting with the various animated pics, but I'm afraid that my seniors would think I had lost my mind if I put dancing hearts on a calendar...but then again, maybe not. Thanks for letting me see a site designed for middle school students. Yours and Jay Kinney's are the only ones so far that were for older students.

Hi Cathy, WOW! That is a wonderful web site! I love the layout and the organziation! Super job! You have put lots of time into building this web site and it shows. Thanks for sharing with all of us! Ann

I have finally posted my December Novus plan and the integration plan.  I used my research paper integration plan because my students are convinced that all information is on the net and they don't have to do any outside media research if they have a computer.  It was a struggle, but they did finally use our media center, the local libraries (which they say have nothing about literary criticism) and the libraries at both USF St. Pete and SPC.  During the lesson they used the computers daily, evaluating sites, taking notes, learning to use the Word 2007 reference tab (GREAT!) and genrally moaning and groaning about their 5 page papers (3) that would be rolled into one at the end of the year.  I am happy to say, they survived.

Keisha,

Your site is great for your extended absence.  I'm just glad that I already knew Zaria's name.  How could you leave that out?!!!

I never thought about linking the textbook site on my page, and plan to do it at the earliest convenience.  I just wish my AP text had an online version so I could like that also.
