Please write your thoughts about using a wiki for classroom use. I will collect and send to them.

Thanks for helping out. If you created a classroom wiki please include the name(s).

I think wikis are an awesome application for the classroom.  I was looking for a way to have my students reflect daily, and previously was going to use paper journals.  Now I am all set up with a wiki!  It took very little time, was easy to do, and will be far more engaging for my kiddos than pen and paper.  At our school, Sanderlin, our PYP students are encouraged to take action.  The 4th graders all decided to help reduce their effects on the earth by using less paper last year.  This year I can encourage the kids to keep that commitment up through using a wiki for a lot of our work instead of more paper and copies.  The ideas are endless!  I also created one for a Summer Cooking Camp that I will be coteaching for the next two weeks.  I was initially making a webpage to contain all the links and applications we needed, but I immediately switched it to a wiki when I learned of these this week.  It is a much more interactive and fluid document that I think will better suit our needs.  Below are my addresses:

Wikis are a wonderful way for teachers to collaborate school-wide or county/district-wide.  I set up a school Wiki because many times as the Library Information Specialist I do not know what is going on in the classrooms.  I want to be able to support the teachers and collaborate with them on lessons they are doing in the classrooms, maybe even help them integrate more technology by modeling a lesson.  I am hoping this school Wiki will help me learn more about what my Sutherland teachers are doing and how I can assist them.

I have been using wikis for quite awhile and love the ease of use. It is the easiest collaborative tool that I have seen in a long time. Thanks to all the CTIP participants that have posted their information.

My third graders are involved in a  1-1 project and use the wiki to get informaion for their projects. I have 2 wikis including this one. Ann Smith 6/2/07

The resources available at pbwiki are amazing! I am probably most impressed with the ability to upload video and the ability to manage the small details of the site. I have created three more wikis. The first was to learn by doing and is about my dog (http://titus.pbwiki.com). I have also created another that I plan to use with my classes next year (how great that they will be able to contribute, too) and a final one for my upcoming trip to Japan. I'm especially excited that since it's web-based I'll be able to post things, including videos with sound, to share with my students while I'm still in Japan. Thank you so much!
