Nancy Miller, Ozona March lessons: I chose to make my curriculum page on Nursery Rhymes, because even though I teach third grade I found that my students do notknow most of the rhymes. I met with my principal today going over my CTIP portfolio and discussing some of the activities that the students have done. She enjoyed watching me grow with technology in the classroom. This was a great exprience to learn and use new technologies with students. I have requested a meeting with my principal for Tuesday. I may have to hand-carry his evaluation to the meeting on the 29th. I have sent my training log to Ron today by email. I have taken the TIM survey and submitted my record. I will pony or hand-carry my portfolio disk to you on Tuesday. Have I forgotten anything? Please, please, please say, "No." It has been a great learning experience for me this year, I just wish I had not had so many brands in the fire at the same time. 6 school days, 1 commencement day, then I can have my nervous breakdown as I clean an office and classroom that has not seen organization in the last two months. I am having my students star in little movies that reinforce processes used in our writing program and hopefully next year I will expand to other areas. Colleen -- As part of my work with the Tampa Bay Area Writing Project, I spend 5 weeks in the summer working with k-12 teachers. I am constantly amazed at the writing that goes on in the early elementary grades. Thank you for nurturing a love of writing in our students. I'm trying to keep that same passion alive in seventh grade. Holly Colleen - I love that you also used your kids. We did a video for choosing a just right book using our students. I met with my principal today and we spent about 45 minutes going over my CTIP portfolio and various other possibilities. I had met with her earlier to discuss the training log and principal's survey. The portfolio was sent to Jackie on Tuesday and thetraining log and and an initial survey was ponied to Ron on Tuesday as well. I am bring a follow up survey to Ron on Thursday night as well. She was quite impressed with the depth and number of the projects, and we talked at length about continuing to develop this type of curriculum during the summer. Being a Middle school instructor, with mostly gifted students, and having to go to an extended schedule of most likely 8 periods next year, she wants me to develop a year project-based class for these students, and an elective project class for the student population. Some of this will be based on the SECME curriculum incorporating mathematics and science, and we want to utilize the technology aspects in all facets of the development. Dee Arose - I met with my principal and presented my power point of the work that I had completed this year in CTIP. My experience in CTIP has given me so much more technology that I can use in my classroom. Everything we do in Science and Social Studies we utilize technology to reinforce the learning process. My students loved the story board that we created with our science experiment. They shared it and a power point that they did on a famous person in history with their parents at their student led conference. Ninety percent of the comments that I received from the parents were regarding how much they enjoyed the technology their children had completed. I will hand deliver the principal survey and portfolio. I won't be able to get the CD to you before Thursday if I pony it. I had my interview earlier in the month. I have definitely enjoyed this experience. I don't think I would have pushed myself to actually work on each technology component with out this program. I think I am a better student and hopefully a better teacher because if what I have learned. I think the most important thing I learned is that I know and integrate at a much lower level than I thought I did. I will defintely have to step things up a notch or two next year.
